Day 264 - 22nd September 2010

Autumn semester, week one day three. Another day in the office and then off to the pub for a catch-up with a few people we hadn't seen for a while. The photo of the day is of something I had never seen before. One of the people at our table was smoking a pipe and using this device to make sure the tobacco was, um, whatever tobacco should be like in a pipe. Any idea how you say this in English?

Day 263 - 21st September 2010

Autumn semester, week one, day two - not that I'm counting  :-) Again the day was spent in the office. As much as the thought of a 12 week semester is daunting, it is nice to see everyone again after the long summer break. Today was a special birthday for one of the members of the department, so at 5pm sharp we trundled accords the road to the local "pub" where the room downstairs was reserved for us to drink bubbles and celebrate.

Day 262 - 20th September 2010

Semester officially started this week, but luckily the first week is always a non-teaching week :-) After a day spent in the office thinking "I've had all summer to do this and I'm doing it now?", a few of us headed to the local cafe for happy hour. It was the first time in a long time that all of us were back around the same table.

Day 261 - 19th September 2010

Today was spent in bed nursing a cold :-( Instead of another picture of tissues or equally unexciting things, the picture for the day is of Brno's new clock - mentioned previously in this blog- which was unsheathed yesterday. Feeling under the weather, I was, sadly, unable to attend the opening, but here is the clock/dildo (delete where appropirate) courtesy of Brno Now's website.

Day 260 - 18th September 2010

It's the weekend and in true Law of the Sod style I have a cold. I spent the day indoors with tea and tissues.

Day 259 - 17th September 2010

Last day of the course, and though I'm sad it's over, I'm not sad it's the weekend :-) After work I went for a coffee with a couple of students who graduated a few years back. In fact they were among the first trainees I ever had.  They are both now EFL teachers, and having spent some time abroad teaching, are back in Brno for the duration. Here they both are looking happy and relaxed after a hard week's teaching. Thanks for a nice afternoon :-)
